Calling to Yeti, 2019

Calling to Yeti is the title of the project and exhibition that took place at the AT Gallery in Poznań in 2019. In a small gallery space, there was projected a mockumentary film entitled The Secrets of Himalaya, which is part of a performative and transdisciplinary project. By invoking the being - Yeti, I am once again trying to define the relationship of modern man to nature as well as his sense of connection with the surrounding "uncivilized" world. It is a story about blurring the boundaries: between fiction and reality, nature and culture, east and west, science and cryptoscience, news and fake news; a story about the collapse of binary oppositions that are not useful for describing the world; after all, it is a story about the path and the creative process that is contained along the way. Considering the most important elements of the project, it could be viewed from two perspectives, one is close to introspection, the other is associated with an anthropological attitude.
In the gallery space, apart from the video, there was sitting also the character of Yeti, or rather Yetica, the same that appears in the movie. "Snow Woman" has her back to the video and viewers, she is present and at the same time uninterested in her surroundings. He is facing the graphic - the inscription in Nepali, placed on the wall. The inscription is an excerpt from a poem by W. Szymborska Notes from a Nonexistent Himalayan Expedition, from the Calling out to Yeti volume.

Wołając do Yeti, 2019

Napis to fragment wiersza W. Szymborskiej Z nieodbytej wyprawy w Himalaje, z tomu Wołanie do Yeti.
